There is nothing less inspiring for a guitarist or bass player than to pick up their instrument and find it constantly out of tune, difficult to play, or sounding bad due to electronics issues or needed repairs.

My inspiration to start maintaining guitars and basses comes from how good it feels for me as a player to be able to pick up any guitar in my collection and play without fear that something is wrong with it or it is going to be difficult to play. Worse yet, I want to be confident that if I am heading out to a gig that my instrument is in top shape to be able to give me a top-notch performance.

Speaking to other guitarists and bassists, I think this is a universal desire for anyone who plays - whether they are a professional musician, infrequent gigger, or a bedroom player for fun.
